According to a Peter Wernig Letterhead, the firm was founded in 1867. On July 1, 1884 Peter was issued a German Patent (DRP) no. 27718 for a Falling Block action for a four barrel gun. In 1900 Peter or his firm exhibited with six other Austrian Gun Makers at the Paris Exhibition. Following is the section of the Paris Exhibition book which covered classes 49-53.
It is assumed that many of his guns were built on actions bought from the trade such as makers in Suhl, Germany.
